NPP-450 Wind Turbine

There’s a new, heavy duty, marine-rated wind generator on the block. We are happy to
announce the availability of the NPP-450 Sprite, available in 12V and 24V. The new standard in small wind turbines, this compact and powerful turbine has the capacity to power entire cottages, RV's and boats (depending on wind speeds and power requirements). The Sprite is a marine-rated permanent magnet alternator which has good output power
at all wind conditions. The Sprite is free of internal moving parts, so there’s no need for periodic maintenance or failures. Larger blades and tail ensure better performance than any similar rated turbines on the market. Quiet through its entire operating range, and superior wind tracking add to its unparalleled efficiency. The incorporation of quality engineering and styling make the NPP-450 Sprite very popular among turbine enthusiasts.
The NPP-450 Sprite turbine comes standard with a separate charge
controller which handles 12v or 24v up to 450 watts, and also has room for 300 watts of solar power that can be added. A 3 year warranty completes this unit.

As with all wind generators, all units must be de-rated at higher elevations (the higher the altitude the thinner the air, and the lower the output).
As of early March, we just received a 24V unit to test and replace our Air X wind generator. It’s pretty meaty, folks, built very heavy duty; at 44 lbs. it’s in a totally different class that the Air X or Air 403 models (which weigh in at 17 lbs.). Their lower cut-in wind speed will help make more power in milder conditions, and with a survivability rating of 130+ mph, they should be able to withstand Mother Nature’s worst! The blades and charge controller offer a one-year warranty; the alternator unit comes with a three year warranty. Since the alternator puts out un-rectified AC power, you’ll be able to use lighter gauge wire between your wind generator and your batteries. We’ll keep you posted as to its performance when the weather finally allows us to put this up!
Note: Ideally, all wind generators should be mounted at least 30 ft. taller than anything within 500 ft. Putting a wind machine on a short tower is like putting a solar module in the shade! If winds are good on the surface they’re even better aloft. If you are not certain of your wind resource, contact your local weather folks or airports. You can view wind maps at
www.nrel.gov/wind and also at
www.windpowermaps.org Wind power generally works best where the winds are quite a nuisance. A strong directional wind is much better than gusty.

It is much superior to any other little
wind generator we have had...and we've had a couple of 'em. |
