From Southwest Windpower, the AIR
X quieter wind generator!
They've done it again! Specifications, design, installation,
and output are basically the same as the Air 403s, but these newer units
are quieter, even at high wind speeds--due to a redesign of the Air
403's internal regulator mechanism. The old Air 403s (discontinued a
while back) would stall and make a loud (but normal) noise at
wind speeds above 35 mph; the new Air X units will sense itself
approaching stall speed, and slow the unit's blades to keep it
quiet. After a few seconds, the unit will allow the rpm of the
blades to rev up again, as long as it doesn't exceed the "noise
quotient".

Roof Mount Kits
Because of the small size and simplicity of
mounting the Air X turbines, there are different mounting options. If you
know of a welder or metal fabricator, you may wish to come up with your
own custom design for your installation (it could save you money). These wind gennies
mount on a 1.5" schedule 40 pipe (1.875"
outside diameter)--this piping is readily available from most hardware
stores, and also plumbing and electrical supply shops.
There are roof mounts available--however,
most structures have not been designed from the ground up to accommodate a
wind generator. Quite simply put, these can vibrate a building
apart! They should NOT be mounted on any occupied structure, but do
best on a free-standing tower that is at least 30 ft. taller than anything
else around within 500 feet.
Guyed tower kits are also available,
available is 27 or 45 ft. heights; they are the standard for simple and
durable tower installations. These towers tilt-up for easy erection. All
parts are threaded--no welding is required. Screw-type anchors are
available as an option. All parts are included except the schedule
40 2" pipe. The Air 403/Air X requires a 1 1/2" pipe for
the last four feet.
